I’m not exactly sure how it happened, but I ended up with two jars of unopened coconut oil. I know, shame on me, but here we are. Use it as a Substitute for Butter
Coconut oil is a healthier alternative for vegetable oil or butter. You can substitute it in place of butter using a one-to-one ratio.
Coffee Creamer Substitute
I’ve never tried this, but I’ve been told this can be a great substitute for milk or traditional creamer for your coffee.
Moisturize Hair and Scalp
All you need to do is put a very small amount of coconut oil in your hands and rub them together. Then, work it through your hair. Using coconut oil on your hair will make your hair smooth and silky, tame frizz, and help fight dandruff.
Make a DIY Face Wash
To make your own face wash, mix castor oil and coconut oil in a one-to-one ratio for a deep cleansing face wash.
Shaving Cream Substitute
Coconut oil is a great substitute for shaving cream! I would highly recommend this to anyone who has sensitive skin as coconut oil is chemical free. You can also apply coconut to your skin half an hour prior to shaving to reduce irritation and bumps caused by your razor.

Make your own facial at home with coconut oil and honey. Mix them together until you get a thick consistency, then apply it to your face and wait about 15 minutes. Make sure you wash it off completely.

I have really thick hair. I could probably spend hours yanking and ripping through my hair with a brush every morning or when I get out of the shower, and it’s still tangled! Coconut oil works as a great detangler. Dampen your hair well, then massage in coconut oil. Let it sit for about two minutes, then starting at the bottom of your hair, work your way up with a comb to get through tangles.
Prevent Split Ends
Coconut oil does more than just make your hair smooth and healthy. It can also prevent those pesky split ends! Add a little bit of coconut oil to the ends of your hair daily to reduce breakage. If you are prone to oily hair, be sure you apply a SMALL amount.
Grease Baking Pans
If I had a dollar for every time I’ve ruined a cake or a batch of brownies trying to get them out of the pan, I’d be a millionaire! Use a little coconut oil to grease your baking pan and watch as your baked goods slide right out of the pan!
