Week 27: Favorite Spot in your City
Can you believe we are already halfway done with our gratitude challenge!? I can’t believe we’ve already come this far, and honestly I can’t believe I’ve stuck with it! You see, I’m not usually one to do these long term challenges, so I’ve been really excited to watch my progress!
I sat here thinking about what in the world my favorite spot in my city was, and found myself drawing a blank. I have lived in Greensboro my entire life, and I somehow still don’t have a favorite spot! There’s no coffee shop I frequent, or any little boutiques I adore shopping at, which made this challenge a nightmare! I know my favorite spot isn’t all that interesting, and most of you will probably be disappointed, but I didn’t want to lie on a challenge about gratitude. It just felt a little off.
After some careful thinking, I finally realized my favorite spot in my city is actually my home. For many of you this probably isn’t the case. Home might be a whirlwind of chaos from the minute you open the door. There are probably more shoes by the door than people living in it, dishes stacked high in the sink, and you might not even remember the last time you wiped down the very floor you’re standing on.
Home is my happy place. It’s where I relax after a long weekend with Mr. Penny Pincher, chase the cat around the apartment, and where many laughs and memories have been made. Just this past week, Mr. Penny Pincher and I were spotted on our balcony blowing bubbles!
This home is where my business adventure really took off, and this is one of the first apartments I’ve spent more than a year in. In college I bounced from dorm room to apartment all four years I was there, and we lived in our last apartment less than a full year. We’ve decluttered this apartment from the ground up, and made changes to turn this into a more permanent space (at least as long as we are renting it!)
Choosing my home as my favorite spot in my city might be cheating just a little, but it truly is my favorite place. There is no place I long for more when I leave, or want to spend more time in when I’m here. Sure we all get a little house crazy around here, or start longing to leave the house for another adventure, but at the end of the day this is the place I keep coming back to 😉
