Week 8: Express Gratitude to 3 People
Have you ever read The Five Love Languages? Last week, I found a quiz for the five love languages online and my Fiance and I decided we’d take the quiz to find out which of the five was our love language. My top two were Acts of Service and Quality Time equally, his were Quality Time followed by Acts of Service. As I sat back and thought harder about my answer, I realized just how true it was. I show my love for others by doing things for them and spending quality time with them. When I feel most loved in return is when someone does acts of service for me as well.
While understanding your love language can be really beneficial in a relationship, it is also one of the main reasons my close friends are as close to me as they are. My closest friends all understand that I value quality time over words of affirmation, and acts of service over gifts. Last weekend I bought my wedding dress, and I was beyond ecstatic to have my father, future mother in law, future sister in law, and two of my bridesmaids all come down for the occasion. None of them live in the same city as me, but all of them still showed up to be a part of this experience.
Some of them drove two and a half hours, and some only forty minutes, but all of them made sure they were there at 9:30 am sharp for my bridal appointment. This week’s challenge was to focus on only three people, but honestly I don’t think the five of them know how much it meant to me to have them there. So rather than focus on three this week, I will express gratitude toward all five.
