Each month, I want to share with all of you how I’m doing on my goals for 2017. I hope this post inspires you in reaching your own goals! In December I set some pretty ambitious goals for 2017 and broke them down into smaller goals for each month. I wanted to take a quick minute to share with you my progress! If you missed my update post for June, you can read that here.
My Goals and Resolutions for 2017: July Update
Complete Courses, Webinars, and Challenges I’ve put off
Last month I completed three more courses in addition to the 52 Weeks of Gratitude Challenge!
- 52 Weeks of Gratitude Challenge
- Declutter your Life Challenge
- Google Drive Course
- Uber Frugal Month Challenge
I can’t believe I finally hit the halfway point of this year! It has made the whole course taking process feel way more manageable knowing I’m on the home stretch! This month, I took three new challenges. I felt the Declutter your Life challenge is way more helpful for beginners or people just getting started with minimalism. It felt like a refresher course to me, a seasoned declutterer (is that even a word?) The Google Drive Course was an absolute joke. If you are completely new to Google and don’t have a gmail account or anything, I would recommend this course. It’s easy with videos and step by step instructions. If you know even a little about it Google Drive, this course is nothing you don’t know, and it would not be worth your time.
Lastly, I took the Uber Frugal Month challenge. I enjoyed the daily inbox inspiration so much! It was like a daily reminder to be more frugal and I loved it! Whether you are a frugalista or just getting started, you should check out this course!
Here are the courses, webinars, and challenges I’m taking this month:
- 52 Weeks of Gratitude Challenge
- Keyword Course
- Yoga Journey
- Blog to Biz
- Organize your Week
Read two books
This month I read two books:
I have heard rave reviews for Say Goodbye to Survival Mode. In fact, almost every review I heard from it was positive. That is why I was baffled by the fact that this book was so boring! It didn’t give me any new information, and seemed to ramble on quite a bit. Since I heard so many great reviews of it, I wanted to stick it out. By the end of the book, I was glad it was over. Not many books have made me feel this way, and I must say I’m a little disappointed that I didn’t like this book.
The Alchemist was a great read. This classic book from my childhood was really fun to read and was a nice change of pace. I would recommend reading or listening to this book when you’re not busy, as I felt it was hard to follow if multitasking!
Here’s what I’m reading this month:
- All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
- Six Dollar Family: From Six Dollars to Six Figures by Stacy Barr

Completely Minimize and Declutter the Bathroom
Our bathroom as a whole is fairly clear of clutter. Under the bathroom sink was an entirely different story. It was so full of unorganized clutter that you couldn’t even open the doors without it spilling out. I was so happy to finally get this area under control! Using some bins, and by getting rid of a lot of unnecessary things, I was able to transform this space into one we can actually use!
Our goal for this month:
Our laundry room is really small, but it has some big potential. Over the past year this has started to turn into long term storage. There are a lot of possibilities with this space, and I’m so excited to get started!
