Doesn’t it feel like Christmas was just yesterday? I can hardly wrap my head around the fact that it’s already 2017! Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and if you haven’t already started thinking about what you want to do for your sweetheart, it’s time to start! My Fiance and I have been together for 6 years! Which means I’ve been buying Valentine’s Day presents for him for a while now. I’ll be the first to admit that while buying gifts for other people is a breeze for me, he continually stumps me when it comes to gift giving. I always want to give him the perfect gift, and it doesn’t always come out like I’d hoped. If you’re too shy to ask your man what exactly he wants for Valentine’s Day, don’t worry, I’ve done all the hard work for you! I asked hundreds of guys what they would actually like to get for Valentine’s Day this year, and put them in a nice convenient list for you to pick through! There’s something on this list for ANY guy. So if you’re stumped on what to get your man for Valentine’s Day, read on!
What Men Actually Want for Valentine’s Day
The truth is most men actually don’t want material gifts for Valentine’s Day. They would be just as happy spending some one on one time with just you! Sometimes us ladies get so caught up in all our to-do lists and errands, that we forget to sit down and give our significant other our undivided attention. If your sweetheart is looking for more intimacy this year, try planning an especially romantic night in. Cook him a special dinner (perhaps something he doesn’t get very often) and have dinner just the two of you by candlelight. Discussion of work or the kids is off the table for tonight! Spend some time rekindling the fire and spending quality time together. If you’re looking for something to give to him this year, consider an “experience gift” you can do together, or a romantic getaway.
A Hobby or Interest Gift
Do Something They Want to Do
If I had a dollar for every time my Fiance asks me to play Rocket League with him, I could probably build a money fort out of it. I’m sure more than once you’ve heard your sweetheart say something along the lines of “Why don’t you play/do ___ with me?” Taking an interest in their interests is one of the best gifts you can give them. Not only is it quality time spent together, but it’s also letting him pick the activity! Perhaps he really wants to go on a brewery tour, or do something new. Find out exactly what he wants, and do it together!
What I’ve done for my Fiance in the Past and HIS opinion!
My Fiance reads mys blog, so I’m sorry to disappoint but I will not be sharing what I am planning on doing for him this year. Sorry honey 😉 However, we have been together for six years now and have celebrated just as many Valentine’s Days together. So I figured I would share with you all gifts I’ve given him in the past that he’s liked, and he will be sharing what he actually wants for Valentine’s Day!
Usually, we keep Valentine’s Day pretty simple. Last year he made me dinner, and got me chocolates and flowers. For him, I bought him chocolate as well, but I also made him a few handmade gifts as well. We try to keep Valentine’s Day somewhat low-key and stay away from expensive or crazy overpriced items. Last year, I got him a gift he really enjoyed! I made him a little coupon book full of activities. They ranged from allowing him to veto my dinner plans and eat out instead, to something as basic as getting “free” kisses. He loved the creativity, and hands down one of my best gift ideas for him to this day.
From The Fiance:
Just listen. Guys may seem hard to buy for, but we’ll tell you what interests us or what we want if you just pay attention. We don’t drop vague hints like some ladies do, so it’ll probably be pretty clear. Maybe this year Lindsey will play Rocket League with me like I keep asking…
